My Story
I grew up in the Metro Detroit suburbs in a hardworking, close-knit military family. One of our family’s core values was responsibility—if you were old enough to work, you got a job and you reached for your dreams.
At 14, I started working as a bagger and cart girl at a local high-end grocery store. My favorite part of the job? Organizing the shelves, particularly in the wine aisle. At the time, I was drawn to the labels, hunting for the most captivating designs. Looking back now, I see those moments as the start of my lifelong connection to wine—a path I didn’t yet realize was unfolding.
My journey eventually led me into the restaurant industry, working at renowned establishments like Steak & Ale, Bravo, Benihana, Andiamo, The Gandy Dancer, Cantoro Italian Trattoria, and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. It was at Andiamo that my wine education truly began. I’ll never forget my first class with the company’s Sommelier, where I tasted a 2008 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon. From that moment, I realized wine is so much more than what’s in the glass—it’s a story of history, terroir, culture, and craftsmanship.
Over the years, my passion for wine has only deepened. While working at Cantoro Italian Trattoria, I earned my Level 1 Court Master Sommelier Certification, and I’m currently pursuing my WSET 2 and 3 with American Wine School with an awarded scholarship from Women of the Vine & Spirits. For me, wine isn’t just a profession—it’s a calling. It’s what I live for.
Through this website, I hope to share my love for wine, its rich stories, and the experiences it brings. Whether you’re here for wine education, industry insights, or unforgettable events, I’m excited to have you join me on this journey. Cheers!
Our History
I truly believe that the Universe brings people into your life for a reason, and my story is proof of that. Let me tell you about Joanne—a dear friend who has played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of my journey.
Years ago, we met while working for two companies' side by side, and we instantly connected. Though our time there was short, fate had other plans. Fast forward to a pre-shift meeting at Cantoro, where our new Maître d’ was introduced - Joanne! It felt like no time had passed, and I was thrilled to work alongside her once again.
Our paths continued to intertwine as we both moved on, unknowingly following each other to Fleming’s. While we were at different locations, I was fortunate enough to spend my training under her guidance. Over time, the winds shifted again, and years passed without seeing each other.
Then one day, I heard about a new wine bar and restaurant opening. Intrigued, I decided to check it out. Walking through the back door, there she was—Joanne, standing there as if the Universe had placed her in my path once again. She welcomed me with a big hug and some serious questions:
“What is your passion? Why aren’t you putting all your knowledge and skills together as a service?”
Her words struck a chord. On the drive home, inspiration hit. I had a name, a concept, and a clear vision. I realized there was a need for someone passionate about wine to bridge the gap between restaurants, wineries, and their guests—someone to share the basics, elevate the guest experience, increase wine sales, and create a vibrant culture around wine.
That moment sparked the creation of this business. It’s not just about wine; it’s about connection, education, and enriching the experiences we share through a glass of wine.
Thus, Viva Pour Vino was created - Around here we Live For Wine!
